Dr. William Saleebey is the foremost expert on the psychological dimensions of personal and business networking. He received his Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Counseling from UCLA in 1980. He also holds a M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Hayward, and a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA.
Dr. Saleebey has been a college professor at a number of universities since 1973, including California State University, Los Angeles, University of San Francisco, UCLA Extension, Chabot College and University of Phoenix. His expertise is quite broad. He has taught courses in General Psychology, Counselor Education, Applied Business, Learning Skills, Sales, and Team Building. He is currently lecturing throughout the United States on Business Networking.
Dr. Saleebey has written three books, STUDY SKILLS FOR SUCCESS, SELL YOURSELF, and CONNECTING: BEYOND THE NAME TAG.
STUDY SKILLS FOR SUCCESS was developed as course material for the Study Skills Seminar, an education program he developed for high school and college students in 1978. SELL YOURSELF was the result of over 25 years experience in sales as Regional Manager, Corporate Relocations, American Relocation & Logistics, a commercial relocation organization and agent for Mayflower Transit, where he been a high producer for many years. CONNECTING: BEYOND THE NAME TAG is a practical guide to building enduring business relationships by understanding the basics of how people communicate, and form networks based on friendship and trust.
He has also written numerous articles on a wide range of topics including: business networking, commercial relocation, and group process. His doctoral dissertation “Educational Problems of Samoan Migrants” was a research document based upon his year as a counselor and professor in American Samoa.
In addition to his professorial experience, he has been a professional public speaker for the Association of Legal Administrators, Bruin Professionals, ProVisors, IFMA, Institute of Real Estate Management, Renaissance Executive Forums, and given a commencement keynote address for Associated Technical College. His presentations are lively, timely, relevant, enlivening and filled with and useful information. He even performed stand up comedy for several years, and injects humor into all of his presentations.
Dr. Saleebey has been involved in business and social networking for over 25 years. Originally he utilized this process for business development. As time passed, he became deeply involved as not only a participant, but organized networking groups, served a variety of executive positions, and became a recognized leader and expert in the field.
Dr. Saleebey is a highly experienced and knowledgeable “power user” of LinkedIn. He has been involved in LinkedIn for ten years, and has over 2,400 contacts. In addition, he is a frequent contributor to discussions in various groups. He has taught LinkedIn usage to networking groups and individuals who want to maximize their benefit from LinkedIn. His massive network allows him to connect people from a variety of professions to one another, as well as make numerous strategic referrals.
Dr. Saleebey is currently Vice President of Chapter Development for Bruin Professionals, a UCLA alumni group. He is also a member of ProVisors, the Building Owners and Managers Association, the International Facility Management Association, and the Ziman Real Estate Group.
